2006 CORVETTE / GENERATION C6 / Z06

GENERAL:

The 2006 Z06 model Corvette upped the ante once more. The ‘06 Z06 marked another milestone for Corvette; a more than 25% boost in total horsepower ...now rated at 427ci and 505 hp...the biggest production engine ever made by GM. And for a 8th time in its history, the Corvette was chosen as the Official Pace Car at the Indianapolis 500 in May of 2006.

The 2006 Z06 was an immediate hit with buyers. With the new performance package, demand was extreme and waits from placing deposits ran an average of at least six months or more before delivery. Many buyers paid $20,000 above full sticker in order to get a Z06 in 2006.

The ‘06 Z06 is distinctive from the standard 2006 model Corvette by side markings near the front wheel and flared rear wheel wells, necessary to accommodate the rear tires... which measure more than a foot wide.

THIS CAR:

Acquired new in April 2006, it has a six-speed manual transmission and virtually every option offered for the model, including head-up windshield display, satellite navigation system and XM satellite radio. The ‘06 Z06 is capable of 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds...and 0-100 mph in less than 9 seconds. Its top speed is just slightly under 200mph.
